Award-winning 'Arrested' may be coming to a stop
Fans say the show is too edgy for regular television. "There is a dumbing down on television that kills shows like 'Arrested Development,' " said Peter Foster, 33, a Chicago "AD" fan.
If the show doesn't make it on the network's schedule for season three, fans hope a cable channel will give the show a shot. HBO, which already carries edgy comedy such as "Curb Your Enthusiasm," is considered a candidate.
The show's style also is unique, which may be the problem. Like "Seinfeld" before it, the characters are not defined by good and bad. There isn't a hero -- although Jason Bateman comes the closest -- and the things the family members do to one another are a bit wacky.
