Award-winning 'Arrested' may be coming to a stop

Fans say the show is too edgy for regular television. "There is a dumbing down on television that kills shows like 'Arrested Development,' " said Peter Foster, 33, a Chicago "AD" fan.

If the show doesn't make it on the network's schedule for season three, fans hope a cable channel will give the show a shot. HBO, which already carries edgy comedy such as "Curb Your Enthusiasm," is considered a candidate.

The show's style also is unique, which may be the problem. Like "Seinfeld" before it, the characters are not defined by good and bad. There isn't a hero -- although Jason Bateman comes the closest -- and the things the family members do to one another are a bit wacky.

As I had noted in my past entry (link) 2004-10-25 ,

my friend who we will call 'Jon' just disappeared from LJ for a very long time. I finally got a journal link to his new username. Hmm. I'm not sure if I am supposed to go back and read the old entries up until this date or not, if the assumption that I was not invited is correct. Well welcome f***ing back anyway.

From the plug and play TV set games (no ac adapter needed) category comes the Commodore 64: 30 Games in One Joystick. Link to it here.

I noticed this quoted under its features: "it lets you program in basic". That works for me.

It really needs a mini-DIN port for a keyboard.

My reaction to an email reply: I didn't even ask them to explain all of the details of their system. I just emailed G--gle-mail about some theory I had where you are best friends with one person and they occasionally send you stuff from a Viagra spammer because they think its funny. What is the proper decision, because the known spammer and headers are in the message - flag as spam, or NOT because you frequently receive emails and reply to your friend. G--mail opted to not even try to answer my inquiry.

What a bunch of BS. G--gle has been using Linus' paradigm of security through transparency for years, but claiming in this email that Microsoft's security through obscurity is the better way. I think its obvious this information hiding approach is wrong.

"Hello,

Thank you for your message.

The Gmail system takes a number of factors into consideration when
classifying messages as 'Spam.' In an effort to protect our users, we
can't share specific details about our spam filters."

Exitframe web tv-show Episode #001 premier

One thing worth talking about is that today marks the first day that google has started blocking my IP address. I was able to confirm this by asking friends and by using a proxy to get to their homepage. Perhaps its time to install a squid system to prevent this. I spent about an 45 minutes using google just looking for fonts, that's probably 25 search result pages. Hmm, altogether I might have actually done 300 searches in the last 24 hours....

This is a really stupid discussion on a nerd mailing list that I found myself reading.

Great, now UC's off-campus "internet connectivity" is down at 3:57 on Mon the 6th. That seems like it should happen rarely.

Theo van Gogh, a distant relative of Vincent van Gogh was recently murdered because of a movie he produced. After a member of the dutch Parliament was threatened with death after calling the holy Muhammad a tyrant, the parliament member went seeking van Gogh to help make a short film (ignoring the threat).

Theo van Gogh and the parliament member's movie was harsh and criticized the muslims in the Netherlands.

Apperantly muslims live secluded lives and Theo van Gogh wanted to call public attention to something.

They condemned the practice of mistreating muslim women in the movie. Theo van Gogh apperantly called 'conservative Muslims' the epithet 'goat fuckers.'

Can anyone post a comment as to what the 'Dutch social welfare system' is (its mentioned in the 6th paragraph)?

(As an aside, I've been reflecting on how meaningless my LJ postings have recently been. I'm going to attempt to limit my posts to 3 or 4 a week in order to not let it become a chore to read or explore all the topics or website links I mention. I hate it when nobody comments. For example in the last 2 months i've received maybe 4 comments and posted about 50 posts. The only reason I sit and type posts on LJ is for other people and if I'm not achieving, then I should reconsider my motives.... (suggestions in the comments section of this post are implied))

An LJ user has just had a visit from the Secret Service, about the political banter in her LJ. Apparently someone reading it had a personal grudge, and used the banter about Bush as a reason to call the Feds. Read her entry:

I have paraphrased this, so its worth reading!:
The long thin cloud streaks in the above satellite photograph of Georgia are contrails, cirrus clouds created by airplanes.

Contrails have become more than an oddity - they may be significantly increasing the cloudiness of Earth, reflecting sunlight back into space by day, and heat radiation back to Earth even at night.

The suspension of air travel for 3 days in the United States after September 11, 2001 provided an opportunity to prove the temperature changes were happening.

Huggins as the Coach [Aug. 27th, 2004|06:08 am]
ohio813
Huggins is back as head coach today (suspended till '27th). And Oscar Robertson gets to go back home (I didn't even know he was in Cincinnati).

I also figured out how to make a different picture appear when I write a post or a comment on livejournal.com. The answer: you must assign non-blank keywords to each picture (3 allowed for free accounts, btw) on the http://www.livejournal.com/editpics.bml webpage. heh. All this time I never knew why my account never let me have a choice.

p.s. Am i the only one who can't see the comment box as described on this page ( http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=206 ). Maybe livejournal is still adding that feature...
